Description
The subject offers introduction to the concept, structure and functionality of expert systems. Students need to learn the formalisms for knowledge representation within an expert system shell and to be able to use tools for developing expert systems. The following topics are covered: An Overview of the Development of Expert Systems, Components of Expert Systems, Models of Knowledge Representation, Inference Principles, and Mechanism of Inference, Logical Organization of the Process of Inference, User Interface, Expert System Shell. These topics are connected to the mechanisms of machine learning, fuzzy expert systems, soft computing, etc. Students are introduced to the domain of Knowledge Based Systems (KBS), as well as software environment for a synthesis of expert systems. Conceptual and functional description of KBS is also presented, as well as some data structures and algorithms for specific expert systems.
